TOPIC: The Conqueror’s Mentality (Seeds Of Destiny 28 March 2025)
SCRIPTURE: And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? 1 Samuel 17:26.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you have the right mentality, you will be allocated the right authority.
MESSAGE:
The Scripture makes it clear that one predominant attribute of David was his possession of the right mind-set, the right mentality. David had the conqueror’s mentality. This was instrumental to his victory over Goliath. While the rest of the Israelites were gripped with the fear of the Philistines, David had a mentality contrary to the rest of them. He had the conqueror’s mentality that was deployed into action and culminated in the defeat of the enemy and the triumph of Israel.
In 1 Samuel 17:22-27, the behaviour of the army of Israel including Saul was different from the behaviour of David. While the army of Israel were running from Goliath, David left his carriage and spoke to the men that stood by, saying, “What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel, for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God.”
Can you see two different mind-sets at play? A group of people, the army of Israel, were running away from Goliath, but there was a young man, in fact, a teenager who wanted to run towards Goliath and kill him. One group, the group of the army of Israel said, “This Goliath can kill anyone because he had been fighting from when he was a youth” but David said, “I want to kill this same Goliath.”
David’s authority over Goliath began with his conqueror’s mentality. You must understand that when you have the right mentality, you will be allocated the right authority. People are defeated in life not necessarily because of their physical weakness but because of their mentality, the wrong mentality.
Remember this: When you have the right mentality, you will be allocated the right authority.
ASSIGNMENT:
- Refuse to be defeated in the battle of life.
- Cultivate the right mind-set for victory in life.
PRAYER: Father, I refuse to bow in defeat like the Israelites on the battleground. I receive the conqueror’s mind-set of David, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
